چکیده

Today, tower cranes are in widespread use on construction sites all around the world. An important issue that arises when operating these cranes is the oscillatory behavior that occurs during payload transportation, which can have severe effects on safety as well as accuracy of payload delivery. Due to the nonlinear nature of the rotating crane motion, controlling these oscillations is a complex task. Additionally, the lack of sensors on many cranes that are in use today requires extra effort to design effective control strategies. While current research has made good progress on the subject of tower crane control, less attention has been given to the practical implications of applying these control methods to industrial tower cranes. This thesis provides a comparison of some of the best possible tower crane control strategies that can be achieved using modern control concepts. A performance analysis as well as a more practical comparison through a real-time tower crane simulator will give a deeper insight into the theoretical and practical limitations of these methods. TOWER CRANES AND SUPPLY POINTS LOCATING PROBLEM USING CBO, ECBO, AND VPS

Tower cranes are major and expensive equipment that are extensively used at building construction projects and harbors for lifting heavy objects to demand points. The tower crane locating problem to position a tower crane and supply points in a building construction site for supplying all requests in minimum time, has been raised from more than twenty years ago. This problem has already been so...

Design of a WSN-Based Monitoring System for Avoiding Collision of Tower Cranes

Tower cranes in large construction projects are likely to collide with other cranes close to them during the operation, which is a severe hazard to the security of the staff. Thus, a WSN-based monitoring system for avoiding collision of tower cranes is proposed. The 3D data positioning technology is used to install angle and position sensors at intervals in the cranes in order to collect positi...

Identification and assessment of human errors among tower crane operators using SHERPA and CREAM techniques

Introduction: Cranes are of the major causes of accidents in the construction industries. As human error mostly causes crane accidents, this study aims to investigate the human errors of tower crane operators in the construction projects using SHERPA and CREAM techniques. Material and Method: In this research, first, all of the tasks of the tower crane operator were identified and analyzed. Th...

Command Shaping for Nonlinear Crane Dynamics

Motion-induced vibration can be greatly reduced by properly shaping the reference command. Input shaping is one type of reference shaping method that is based largely on linear superposition. In this paper we document the impact of nonlinear crane dynamics on the effectiveness of input shaping. As typical bridge cranes are driven using Cartesian motions, they behave nearly linearly for lowand m...

Simulating Construction Process with an Animation

This paper presents an animation which simulates construction process by applying tower cranes to assemble shared steel forms in a site of six buildings. Only two sets of steel forms are provided. The animation is simulated based on the length of a cycle .and the number of cycles (a unit period of time) spent for sliding slabs down and moving cranes to next building's location. The first case s...
